Real Retouching by Carrie Beene, coming March 2011

Coming March 2011!

My book, Real Retouching, a Professional Step-by-Step Guide, will be hitting the stores in March of 2011.  I’ve had a great time compiling everything and getting it into a book and can only hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

It’s available for pre-order at Focal Press, Elsevier and Amazon.  Enjoy!

Book description follows:

Image retouching has become a digital art and craft in its own right. Today’s sophisticated magazine/advertising/billboard consumers are so used to seeing Photoshop images that they can spot a bad retouching job a mile away. In order to succeed as a retoucher, or a professional photographer retouching his/her own images, a digital artist must know the ins and outs of working with Photoshop to quickly and efficiently produce realistic-looking images that are simply the best version of themselves. That’s where this book comes in. Carrie Beene has decades of experience working in some of the most highly competitive retouching environments, producing imagery for such world-class publications as Sports Illustrated, Vogue, the New York Times, and Vanity Fair. In this essential resource for anyone interested in serious image retouching, she walks through complete retouching jobs from start to finish, demonstrating each technical detail step-by-step along the way. Each and every image is included on the bonus CD so that readers can practice as they work through the book and have a complete job to show for it at the end. Backwards compatible with any version of Photoshop and written in an easy-to-follow, conversational style, this book will have readers creating their own works of retouched art in no time.

  • Offers insider advice through never before published retouching secrets to give you a leg up on the competition
  • Includes practical and thorough coverage of exactly how to fix real life problems that you can apply to any retouching job, so that you can present yourself and your work like a professional
  • The only book of its kind that focuses solely on retouching for the aspiring retoucher or working professional
